Greece No Longer a Sovereign State

Greece No Longer a Sovereign State | greek-flag | Special Interests World News

Berlin and Brussels colonized Greece, debt entrapping it in the euro straightjacket, the country pillaged, its people impoverished, its crown jewel enterprises and assets sold off at fire sale prices. It continues to grab what’s left.

Paying bankers comes first, a wealth grab against sovereign states and their must vulnerable people.

The more Greece borrows in so-called “rescue” packages, the deeper in unrepayable debt it becomes, heading for eventual default and economic oblivion.

Its long-suffering people are entrapped in dystopian harshness, force-fed austerity taking a terrible toll to enrich financial oligarchs, wanting everything of worth in Greece pillaged.

Serving them created mass unemployment, poverty wages for workers, drastic cutbacks in vital services, higher taxes, slashed pensions, weakened or eliminated labor rights, transferred losses onto the public sector, and a brain drain, many of Greece’s best and brightest gone, others leaving.

On Thursday, Greek parliamentarians again surrendered to Berlin and Brussels. They imposed additional draconian measures, the price for more bailout help, the country mired in deep Depression.

Since spending cuts and higher taxes were initially imposed in 2010, one-fourth of its national output was lost, its unrepayable debt increasing exponentially.

In the last seven years, it’s gotten about 260 billion in bailout loans, ballooning its debt to 179% of GDP.

New austerity measures imposed include more spending and pension cuts, higher taxes, increased privatizations, and reportedly promised new legislation to curb or entirely eliminate strikes.

On Monday, eurozone finance ministers will discuss more bailout relief, contingent on Athens repaying 7.5 billion euros to bankers in July – instead of responsibly defaulting and ending banker occupation.

Prime minister Alexis Tsipras lied, saying “I’m confident we’re entering a period of stability and strong recovery.” In 2015, he lied, promising to end austerity.

Youths suffering from around 50% unemployment, hard-hit public-sector workers, and pensioners aren’t buying it anymore.

On Wednesday and Thursday nights, violent protests raged, public fury over more draconian measures on top of many others earlier.

Thousands gathered in Syntagma Square near parliament. Masked demonstrators threw Molotov cocktails and smashed windows. Police responded with tear gas.

The only responsible solution in Greece, elsewhere in Europe and America is nonviolent revolution. Nothing else can work.

It’s Back: How to Prep for Ebola 2.0

It’s Back: How to Prep for Ebola 2.0 | ebola | General Health PreparednessSurvival Special Interests US News World News

On May 12th, the World Health Organization declared an Ebola epidemic in the Congo. (source) It looks like it could be time to prep for Ebola 2.0.

The WHO had already warned a new outbreak could happen at any time because the virus lurks in the eyes, central nervous system, and bodily fluids of survivors.

Dr. Peter Salama, the executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies program, told the press to “never, ever underestimate Ebola” and to “make sure we have a no-regrets approach to this outbreak.” (source)

Where it’s happening

The fact that this epidemic is currently in a remote part of the North East Congo should set your mind at ease, although not so much that you don’t keep on eye on the situation. With the availability of rapid air travel and unchecked immigration into Europe, these types of things can spread incredibly quickly.

This map from the CDC shows the area in which the current outbreak is centered. It’s the large red splotch in the Northern part of the Congo.

It’s Back: How to Prep for Ebola 2.0 | ebola-map-768x594 | General Health PreparednessSurvival Special Interests US News World News It is both good and bad news that the area is extremely remote. It’s good because it lessens the possibility for exposure to other areas. Not many people travel in and out of Likati because there are no paved roads. But this also causes concern because it makes it far more difficult to monitor the area, and it’s spreading fast.

The risk from the outbreak is “high at the national level,” the WHO said, because the disease was so severe and was spreading in a remote area in north-eastern Congo with “suboptimal surveillance” and limited access to health care.

“Risk at the regional level is moderate due to the proximity of international borders and the recent influx of refugees from Central African Republic,” the organisation said, but it nonetheless described the global risk as low because the area is so remote.

About a week ago, in addition to the nine suspected cases, 125 patients who had come into close contact with the disease were being monitored. Now about 400 patients are being followed, even as nine new cases were reported on Thursday, according to the WHO. (source)

It’s spreading rapidly throughout the region, up 800% over the last week. (source)

Why Ebola is so worrisome

Part of the reason Ebola seems particularly terrifying is the graphic presentation, which is the stuff of horror movies. It is a hemorrhagic disease, which means that it can cause bleeding from the mouth, eyes, nose, and rectum. Here’s how it progresses:

The incubation period, that is, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms is 2 to 21 days. Humans are not infectious until they develop symptoms. First symptoms are the sudden onset of fever fatigue, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding (e.g. oozing from the gums, blood in the stools). Laboratory findings include low white blood cell and platelet counts and elevated liver enzymes. (source)

But it isn’t just the gruesome visuals. The risk of death from Ebola can be anywhere between 50-90%, depending on the strain. This outbreak is the Zaire strain of Ebola, which is the same one that made it to America back in 2014.

The 2014 outbreak that could have spread through America

If you recall, the fact that it didn’t become widespread in the US during the 2014 scare was NOT because it was handled properly.  source, and It was sheer luck.

When American Patient Zero, Thomas Duncan, first showed up in a Texas emergency room, he wasn’t tested, despite the fact that he told them he was from Ebola-stricken Liberia.  Proper practices were not followed, and one of the nurses who cared for him became the second victim. All sorts of near misses occurred, like the fact that the plane that carried an Ebola patient made FIVE trips before it was sanitized.

The news came out this morning that the second American nurse diagnosed with Ebola flew on a plane with 132 other passengers from Cleveland, Ohio to Dallas, Texas.  Amber Vinson had a low-grade fever when she boarded the plane, and was admitted to Texas Presbyterian Hospital just hours after disembarking.

The latest horror?

Not only were 132 people who flew with Vinson exposed to Ebola.

In the time it took the CDC to notify Frontier Airlines of the issue, 5 more flights were made. (source)

That sounds like the plot of a cringe-y movie, where you watch the sneeze spray of an infected person in slow motion landing on everyone nearby. But that wasn’t the only mind-boggling thing that happened.

But that wasn’t the only mind-boggling thing that happened. We brought some exposed people back to the US and put them in hotels.

A couple of days ago an American healthcare worker who had been definitively diagnosed with Ebola was brought back to the US for treatment at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.  Eleven more patients have been isolated and are on their way to the United States as well, after having had  “potential exposure” to the disease.

Now, about those people who were “potentially exposed”?

They aren’t being hospitalized. Oh no.  They are being brought back to stay at hotels “near” three different hospitals in different regions of the country. I couldn’t make this up if I tried. (source)

So, I think we can all agree, looking to the National Institute of Health, the CDC, and the WHO to keep us “safe” is not the best fall-back plan. We have to be prepared to take action ourselves should this outbreak turn into a pandemic.

Don’t panic. Just Pay Attention.

There is usually a little bit of warning before an outbreak becomes severe enough to warrant the title “pandemic.” It isn’t like The Walking Dead, where suddenly 80% of the population is affected overnight. With a pandemic, you hear a little hum about it before it gets bad. The World Health Organization makes some flyers, reports are given, and there is a mention on the evening news. But, generally speaking, officials are stingy with information because they don’t want to “start a panic.” This means that the judicious prepper needs to pay close attention when new viruses begin to be mentioned.

Now, just because a virus is mentioned, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to become a pandemic, of course. However, it can be an early warning sign that you need to get your ducks in a row.

Think of it like a tropical storm.  You hear about it gathering steam out over the ocean well before it ever makes landfall. Just because there is a storm somewhere in the Atlantic, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to hit, but it means that the wise person begins to pay closer attention to the weather reports, makes certain that the basics are stockpiled, and puts together a plan just in case the time to board up the windows arrives.

How to Prep for Ebola: Worst Case Scenario

Avoiding contact with people who have the illness is the only way to prevent getting it. Should an outbreak occur, isolating yourselves is the best way to stay safe and healthy.

This is the tricky part: How do you know that the time has come to get the family inside and lock the doors behind you? Lizzie Bennett, a retired medical professional, wrote an incredibly helpful article over on her website Underground Medic during the initial outbreak. Bennett recommends social distancing as the only effective way to protect yourself and your family from an outbreak of disease.

How long you should remain isolated depends primarily on where you live. For those in towns and cities it will be for much longer than those living in rural retreats where human contact is minimal. Though those fortunate enough to live in such surroundings should remember that if the situation is dire enough, people will leave the cities looking for safety in less populated areas. In large centres of population there will be more people moving around, legally or otherwise, each of these individuals represents a possible uptick in the disease rates, allowing the spread to continue longer than it would have they stayed indoors and/or out of circulation. Even when the initial phase is on the wane, or has passed through an area, people travelling into that area can bring it back with them triggering a second wave of disease as people are now emerging from their isolation…

One hundred miles is my buffer zone for disease, of course it could already be in my city, but practicalities dictate that I will not stay away from people because hundreds in Europe are dropping like flies. Maps of disease spread look like a locust swarm moving across the country and this allows disease spread to be tracked on an hour by hour basis. One of the few instances where mainstream media will be useful. (source)

Once you’ve gone into lockdown, how long you must stay there is dependent on the spread of the illness. Times will vary.  Bennett suggests these guidelines:

Once the doors were locked we would stay there for at least two weeks after the last case within 100 miles is reported. A government all clear would be weighed against how long it had been since the last case was reported in the area I have designated as my buffer zone. There is of course still the chance that someone from outside the area will bring the disease in with them causing a second wave of illness. You cannot seal off cities to prevent this. Going out after self-imposed isolation should be kept to a minimum for as long as possible, and if you don’t have to, then don’t do it. Far better to let those that are comfortable being out and about get on with it and see if any new cases emerge before exposing yourself and your family to that possibility. (source)

What does it mean to go into lockdown?

This Ebola thing could go bad in a hurry. And by bad I mean that the last time around, it killed well over half of the people who contracted it in West Africa.

If the situation hits close enough to home that you decide to go it’s time to isolate yourselves, the rules to this are intractable.

No one goes out. No one comes in.

I know this sounds harsh, but there are to be no exceptions. If you make exceptions, you might as well go wrestle with runny-nosed strangers at the local Wal-Mart and then come home and hug your children, because it’s the same thing.

Once you have gone into lockdown mode, that means that the supplies you have on hand are the supplies you have to see you through.  You can’t run out to the store and get something you’ve forgotten.

That means if a family member shows up, they have to go into quarantine for at least 4 weeks, during which time they are not allowed access to the home or family, nor are they allowed to go out in public.  Set up an area on your property that is far from your home for them to hang out for their month of quarantine. If at the end of the month they are presenting no symptoms, then they can come in.

It sadly means that you may be forced to turn someone away if they are ill, because to help them means to risk your family.

Now is the time to plan with your preparedness group how you intend to handle the situation. Will you shelter together, in the same location, and reserve a secondary location to retreat to if the situation worsens further or if someone becomes ill? Will you shelter separately because of the nature of the emergency?  Decide together on what event and proximity will trigger you to go into lockdown mode. Make your plan and stick to it, regardless of pressure from those who think you are over-reacting, the schools that your children have stopped attending, and any other external influences. If you’ve decided that there is a great enough risk that you need to go into lockdown, you must adhere to your plan.

Prepare an isolation area.

In the event that a member of your group becomes ill, they need to immediately be quarantined from the rest of the group. By the time they’re showing symptoms, it could be too late to prevent the spread of illness but effort should still be taken to isolate them.

Here are some tips on isolating a patient.

  • The sick room should be sealed off from the rest of the house.  Use a heavy tarp over the doorway to the room on the inside and the outside. This will make a small breezeway for the caretaker to go in and out.
  • The caretaker should cover up with disposable clothing, gloves, shoe covers, and hair covers.
  • The caretaker should wear an N95 mask.
  • The sick person should use disposable dishes and cutlery.  All garbage from the sick room should be placed in a heavy garbage bag and burned outdoors immediately.
  • The sick person should not leave the room.  If there is not a bedroom with a connected bathroom, a bathroom setup should be created within the room.  Great care must be taken with the disposal of this waste.

You can learn more about preparing a sick room HERE.

Do you have the supplies you need to weather a pandemic?

It’s time to do a last minute check of your preps because by the time a general quarantine is announced in your area or you hear the mainstream suggesting that people should stay home, it will be too late to get the rest of your supplies. As well, at that point, the path of the pandemic will have progressed so much it will be unsafe to do so.

You need to be prepared to go into family lockdown mode for a minimum of 6 weeks should things get bad in your area, and preferably longer than that in the event that this takes a long time to contain.  It’s most likely that services such as public water and electricity will remain intact, but you should prepare as though they won’t be, just in case.

Here’s a quick checklist along with some links to resources.  Base amounts on the number of family members you’ll be sheltering.

Note – we do not commonly use anti-bacterial products but in a situation like this, it’s important to have this type of thing on hand in the event that there are issues with sanitation.

Sweden Drops Phony Assange Rape Case

Sweden Drops Phony Assange Rape Case | assange-wikileaks-nsa | Special Interests Whistle Blowers World News

Since June 2012, he’s been holed up in Ecuador’s London embassy, granted political asylum by its government weeks later in response to phony Swedish rape charges.

Britain conspired with Washington to get Assange to Sweden, once there extradited to Washington where a reported sealed indictment charges him with spying under the WW I relic Espionage Act.

Neocon Attorney General Jeff Sessions calls arresting him “a priority…(W)e will seek to put some people in jail” for whistleblowing, he blustered. CIA head Mike Pompeo said he deserves the death penalty.

He lied saying “(i)t’s time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is: a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia.”

“Julian Assange has no first amendment freedoms. He’s sitting in an embassy in London. He’s not a US citizen.”

Anyone exposing US high crimes and other wrongdoing is vulnerable to police state arrest, prosecution, conviction and imprisonment for the crime of doing the right thing.

Swedish Public Prosecution director Marianne Ny saying she’ll no longer pursue rape charges against Assange, her arrest warrant dropped, doesn’t mean his ordeal is now over. Far from it.

His lawyer was way premature calling the decision a “total victory,” adding “(t)he preliminary investigation has been dropped and the detention order has been withdrawn, and from Sweden’s point of view this is now over.”

That’s the good news. What’s bad is if he returns to Sweden (voluntarily or involuntarily) before the statute of limitations expires in 2020, the rape case could be reopened.

More serious is US authorities wanting him extradited to America. Britain almost certainly will help get him there if he leaves Ecuador’s embassy.

London’s Metropolitan Police said a warrant for his arrest remains for failing to surrender to the courts on 29 June 2012. If he leaves Ecuador’s embassy, it’ll be executed.

Virtual certain extradition to America will follow unless his lawyers can get the London arrest warrant dropped.

On Friday, WikiLeaks tweeted “UK states it will arrest Assange regardless & refuses to confirm or deny whether it has already received an extradition request from the US.”

In February 2016, citing the findings of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, human rights expert Alfred de Zayas said Assange’s detention violated provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

He called on UK and Swedish authorities to assure his safety, physical integrity, and right of free movement, along with paying damages for his long, unjustifiable ordeal – first as a political prisoner under house arrest, then refugee in Ecuador’s embassy to avoid unjust extradition to Sweden, then America.

He stressed whistleblowers are vital human rights defenders, deserving high praise, not prosecution.

Assange’s ordeal is far from over, subject to UK arrest, extradition to America, or CIA assassination if he leaves Ecuador’s embassy.

The Mafia that Governs Brazil

The Mafia that Governs Brazil | Brazilian-President-Michel-Temer | Special Interests World News

Brazilian President, Michel Temer has been implicated in a new bribery scandal.

I recently read a Facebook post from a person who rightfully pointed out that Brazil is far from being a democracy. In fact, the user clarified that the country has never been a democracy, at least not in the last 40 years.

He begins his post with the following thought: “Today it is difficult to disassociate ourselves from politics. I’ve found out about the size of the irony that we Brazilians are in ..” He then uses irony himself to refer to the situation the country is in and how people were indoctrinated into believing that democracy reigns all over. “The generation of which I am part of was born in a democratic environment. What a good thing. A new constitution … How lucky we are! Brazil is a “young democracy”. So I heard, so they told me. I, innocent, believed. We, the innocent, believed.

The problem is that Brazilians are not innocent. They were lied to all right, but that was many years ago. Today, they are innocent no more, yet they continue to allow a cabal of oligarchs, both foreign and local to determine what their lives should be like. It is not a Monarchy as the author of the post claims, but a Mafia. It is the same kind of Mafia that governs over every single western country today.

Mr. Dobrinsky says that the class of people that dominate politics in Brazil are a sort of nobility, but he forgets to point what is obvious: The people are to blame for everything that has happened in the country since it became a democratic republic. It is the people who elect their representatives. How and why do people elect representatives who destroy a country like Brazil? The answer is due to ignorance.

There are two other horrific details that seem to be out of the public discourse of those who complain about their government here in Brazil. Firstly, most people understand the situation and do nothing to change it, and secondly, people actually embrace the current state of disgrace the country is in.

The highest degree of corruption in the history of the country is not enough to light up a fire cracker in the heart of Brazilian people, who limit their actions to innocuous street protests that do little or nothing to change things. In fact, that very same degree of corruption is brought and adopted into their own lives.

Brazil’s problem is not that people are ignorant, but that people are willfully ignorant. They learn to be ignorant from very early in their lives which is why most people still support the “jeitinho brasileiro” or the Brazilian way of doing things. That behaviour exists in the minds of members of the political mafia as much as in that of the homeless and everyone in between. It is part of people’s fabric.

There are three clear examples of how deeply rooted corruption and complacency are in the Brazilian way of life. All Luiz Inacio da Silva, Dilma Rousseff and the current president Michel Temer are being investigated by a special court due to their apparent involvement in massive corruption scandals with tentacles extending to other countries in Latin America. Yet, all that Lula, Dilma and Temer show in public is arrogance, hubris, bravado.

Just this week, president Temer was officially put under investigation after tapes surfaced where he asks for bribes to keep a fellow mafia member quiet about the scandals he appears to be involved in.

The accusations are stacked against Temer, battered by evidence and judicial statements filed to incriminate him by the owners of one of the country’s main business groups.

But Temer not only refuses to resign but has decided to move to the attack. He claims that the evidence against him is “fraudulent” and in a message to the nation urged Saturday to the Supreme Court to suspend investigations for obstruction to justice, passive corruption and criminal organization. As expected, Temer showed no proof to back his claims.

Anyone would think that with the current state of affairs, Brazilians would be at least populating the streets as they did against Rousseff, but nothing even remotely close has taken place.

Meanwhile, resisting at all costs seems to be the slogan of the Brazilian president, despite the fact that the situation for him only worsens as the days pass. Temer is becoming a new Nicolas Maduro.

The disclosure last Friday of the judicial statements of the entrepreneurs who incriminate Temer, the owners of the meat empire JBS, brought devastating consequences.

The managers describe a systematic payment of illegal donations, negotiated directly with Temer over the last 10 years, totaling up to 4.7 million reals.

The maneuvers reported by the entrepreneurs took place even while the country was in the midst of the investigations of the Lava Jato case.

They assert that a few months ago an intermediary of Temer demanded a commission of 5% for him to obtain a favourable decision by the organization that oversees free market competition through which JBS would obtain a profit of 200 million reals a year.

Going back a few years, the informers tell how Temer managed, as vice-president of the country, to receive a monthly payment of 100,000 reais for an ally of his who had just left his position as government official.

Another account tells about how Temer made a donation of another 15 million reais to the parties that were allied with him in the 2014 election campaign and how he decided to keep one million for himself.

To make matters worse, the communication group O Globo, until now one of Temer’s greatest cheerleaders, is beating mercilessly on the new details and on Friday published an editorial demanding his resignation.

Although Temer still has the bulk of his parliamentary support, which includes his own political army, the Party of the Brazilian Democratic Movement (PMDB), and the Brazilian Social Democrat Party (PSDB), the drip of desertions among its allies is growing.

On Saturday, the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) withdrew its support. It is increasingly doubtful that he will have enough strength to approve the reform he has been most committed to and the one that most demand for the markets: the reduction of pensions.

For the first time since the start of the new political crisis, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva went on stage to demand Temer’s resignation and to have early elections.

Lula is the most interested in immediate elections because he leads all the polls and could go to the polls before the five legal proceedings, opened against him also for corruption, are concluded.

The former president is also not free from the confessions of the owners of JBS, who claim that they delivered 150 million reales in illegal donations to Lula’s Workers’ Party (PT).

In the midst of this flood of new corruption scandals, Temer decided to address the nation again on Saturday not only to deny all charges but to appear as the “moralizer” of Brazilian public institutions.

He warned that the opening of the judicial investigation compromises the economic recovery of Brazil, after two years of hard recession, since he placed the country in what he himself admits as “a serious political crisis.”

Temer’s strategy is to invalidate one of the main tests against him, the recording of a conversation he held on March 7 at his official residence with JBS owner Joesley Batista.

From the content of that meeting, the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, deduced that the president gave his acquiescence to the payments that Batista was allegedly making to buy the silence of former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo Cunha, a former political ally of Temer sentenced to 15 years in prison for corruption.

The newspaper Folha de São Paulo has published an expert study that says that the recording is edited and has up to fifty cuts. Temer clings to that to claim that the new “clandestine recording” was “tampered with.”

The newspaper Folha de São Paulo is part of a group known as the Folha Group, a conglomerate that also controls UOL (Universo Online), the leading Internet portal in Brazil.

Revving Up Lost Afghan War Coming?

Revving Up Lost Afghan War Coming? | Afghan-War | Sleuth Journal War Propaganda World News

America’s longest war was lost years ago, privately acknowledged, yet US combat operations continue, escalation likely coming.

According to Bloomberg, Trump’s military and national security advisors recommend deploying an additional 50,000 troops, “according to a classified US intelligence community assessment.”

It’s partly about propping up Kabul’s puppet regime, mostly to continue endless war, unwilling to acknowledge a long ago lost cause.

Surge, if ordered, assures greater mass slaughter and destruction than already, no possible chance of winning a lost war, just waging it endlessly.

According to Bloomberg, “(t)he new estimate from the intelligence community envisions significantly more US forces in Afghanistan than the current levels of around 8,400 US troops currently fighting there.”

“It is also more than the modest troop increase for Afghanistan of around 5,000 that was reported last week.”

DNI and National Security Council spokespersons declined to comment. Other US officials told Bloomberg Trump opposes escalating war impossible to win.

In his book titled “In Retrospect: The Tragedy and Lessons of Vietnam,” former defense secretary Robert McNamara said “we were wrong, terribly wrong. We owe it to future generations to explain why.”

In 1965, he told Lyndon Johnson “I don’t believe they’re ever going to quit. And I don’t see…that we have any…plan for victory, militarily or diplomatically.”

His view was expressed at the onset of dramatic escalation, another decade before America’s humiliating April 1975 exit from the country – accomplishing nothing but mass slaughter, destruction and devastation, including thousands of US forces killed and maimed, their needs not properly cared for as vets.

John Pilger once called Vietnam “the lost illusion of the American cause,” Afghanistan under three US administrations no different.

How many more years of futile conflict will continue, how many US forces returning home in body bags, how much more devastation to the war-torn country?

Throughout its history, Afghanistan was the graveyard of empires, defeating would-be conquerors, foiling their ambitions, America’s lost war the latest example.

According to Bloomberg, National Security Advisor HR McMaster urged escalating war, saying (US-installed puppet) president Ashraf Ghani’s survival depends on it.

Unless Trump halts things, endless conflict will continue, Taliban fighters one day prevailing.

A humiliating US exit seems virtually certain one day, followed perhaps by another former defense secretary’s book, admitting US strategy was “terribly wrong” – a lesson neocons infesting Washington never learn.

Putin Accused of Bribing Trump

Putin Accused of Bribing Trump | trump-and-putin | Politics World News

(image: Yahoo)

You have to be delusional to believe it, neocon Senate Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R. CA) making the baseless accusation, saying:

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: (Rep. Dana) Rohrabacher and Trump,” according to a June 15, 2016 recorded discussion with other Republicans, including Speaker Paul Ryan.

It followed talks on Capitol Hill with putschist Ukrainian prime minister Vladimir Groysman, bashing Russia irresponsibly,  claiming the Kremlin bribes politicians to serve its interests.

It was around the time Moscow was falsely accused of hacking last year’s US presidential election, McCarthy joining the chorus of Russia bashers.

Irresponsibly saying Trump was bribed puts him on the wrong side of good governance, maybe covertly supporting his ousting as president even though Republican leadership maintains public support.

For how long remains open to question. After balking for months, maybe they’ll agree with calls for a special prosecutor and independent commission to investigate alleged Trump/Russia ties – despite no evidence suggesting any, baseless allegations and accusations alone.

A Rohrabacher spokesman said he supports “working closer with the Russians to combat radical Islamism. The congressman doesn’t need to be paid to come to such a necessary conclusion.”

Anyone in Washington supporting improved relations with Russia for any reason, including to combat terrorism, automatically becomes targeted for vilification.

Trump suggesting it got himself marked for removal. He’s fighting for his political life, a battle he may lose.

The U.S. is Waging a Massive Shadow War in Africa, Exclusive Documents Reveal

The U.S. is Waging a Massive Shadow War in Africa, Exclusive Documents Reveal | war-in-africa | Military Sleuth Journal Special Interests War Propaganda World News

By: Nick Turse, Vice News |

Six years ago, a deputy commanding general for U.S. Army Special Operations Command gave a conservative estimate of 116 missions being carried out at any one time by Navy SEALs, Army Green Berets, and other special operations forces across the globe.

Today, according to U.S. military documents obtained by VICE News, special operators are carrying out nearly 100 missions at any given time — in Africa alone. It’s the latest sign of the military’s quiet but ever-expanding presence on the continent, one that represents the most dramatic growth in the deployment of America’s elite troops to any region of the globe.

In 2006, just 1 percent of all U.S. commandos deployed overseas were in Africa. In 2010, it was 3 percent. By 2016, that number had jumped to more than 17 percent. In fact, according to data supplied by U.S. Special Operations Command, there are now more special operations personnel devoted to Africa than anywhere except the Middle East — 1,700 people spread out across 20 countries dedicated to assisting the U.S. military’s African partners in their fight against terrorism and extremism.

“At any given time, you will find SOCAFRICA conducting approximately 96 activities in 20 countries,” Donald Bolduc, the U.S. Army general who runs the special operations command in Africa (SOCAFRICA), wrote in an October 2016 strategic planning guidance report. (The report was obtained by VICE News in response to a Freedom of Information Act request and is published in its entirety below.) VICE News reached out to SOCAFRICA and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) for clarification on these numbers; email return receipts show an AFRICOM spokesperson “read” three such requests, but the command did not offer a reply.

“Africa’s challenges could create a threat that surpasses the threat that the U.S. currently faces from conflict in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.”

The October 2016 report offers insight into what the U.S. military’s most elite forces are currently doing in Africa and what they hope to achieve. In so doing, it paints a picture of reality on the ground in Africa today and what it could be 30 years from now.

That picture is bleak.

“Africa’s challenges could create a threat that surpasses the threat that the United States currently faces from conflict in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria,” Bolduc warned. He went on to cite a laundry list of challenges with which he and his personnel must contend: ever-expanding illicit networks, terrorist safe havens, attempts to subvert government authority, a steady stream of new recruits and resources.

Bolduc indicated his solution was the “acceleration of SOF [special operations forces] missions [filling] a strategic gap as the military adjusts force structure now and in the future.” Translation: U.S. commandos “in more places, doing more” in Africa going forward.

At the same time, Bolduc says the U.S. is not at war in Africa. But this assertion is challenged by the ongoing operations aimed at the militant group al-Shabaab in Somalia, which operates often in all-but-ungoverned and extraordinarily complex areas Bolduc calls “gray zones.”

In January, for example, U.S. advisers conducting a counterterrorism operation alongside local Somali forces and troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia “observed al-Shabaab fighters threatening their safety and security” and “conducted a self-defense strike to neutralize the threat,” according to a press release from AFRICOM.

Earlier this month, in what AFRICOM described as “an advise-and-assist operation alongside Somali National Army forces,” Navy SEAL Kyle Milliken was killed and two other U.S. personnel were injured during a firefight with al-Shabaab militants about 40 miles west of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. The battle occurred shortly after President Donald Trump loosened Obama-era restrictions on offensive operations in Somalia, thereby allowing U.S. forces more discretion and leeway in conducting missions and opening up the possibility of more frequent airstrikes and commando raids.

“It allows us to prosecute targets in a more rapid fashion,” Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, the AFRICOM commander, said of the change. In April, the U.S. military reportedly requested the locations of aid groups working in the country, an indication that yet a greater escalation in the war against al-Shabaab may be imminent.

“Looking at counterterrorism operations in Somalia, it’s clear the U.S. has been relying heavily on the remote-control form of warfare so favored by President Obama,” said Jack Serle, who covers the subject for the London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Recently, the U.S. has augmented this strategy, working alongside local Somali forces and African Union troops under the banner of “train, advise, and assist” missions and other types of “support” operations, according to Serle. “Now they partner with local security forces but don’t engage in actual combat, the Pentagon says. The truth of that is hard to divine.”

U.S. operations in Somalia are part of a larger continent-spanning counterterrorism campaign that saw special operations forces deploy to at least 32 African nations in 2016, according to open source data and information supplied by U.S. Special Operations Command. The cornerstone of this strategy involves training local proxies and allies — “building partner capacity” in the military lexicon.

“Providing training and equipment to our partners helps us improve their ability to organize, sustain, and employ a counter violent extremist force against mutual threats,” the SOCAFRICA report says.

As part of its increasing involvement in the war against Boko Haram militants in the Lake Chad Basin — it spans parts of Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad — for example, the U.S. provided $156 million to support regional proxies last year.

In addition to training, U.S. special operators, including members of SEAL Team 6, reportedly assist African allies in carrying out a half dozen or more raids every month. In April, a U.S. special operator reportedly killed a fighter from Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army during an operation in the Central African Republic. U.S. forces also remain intimately involved in conflict in Libya after the U.S. ended an air campaign there against the Islamic State group in December. “We’re going to keep a presence on the ground… and we’re going to develop intelligence and take out targets when they arise,” Waldhauser said in March.

“We believe the situation in Africa will get worse without our assistance.”

Though Bolduc said special operators are carrying out about 96 missions on any given day, he didn’t specify how many total missions are being carried out per year. SOCAFRICA officials did not respond to several requests for that number.

The marked increase in U.S. activity tracks with the rising number of major terror groups in Africa. A 2012 version of SOCAFRICA’s strategic planning documents also obtained by VICE News lists five major terror groups. The October 2016 files list seven by name — al-Qaida in the Lands of the Islamic Magreb, ISIS, Ansar al-Sharia, al-Murabitun, Boko Haram, the Lord’s Resistance Army, and al-Shabaab — in addition to “other violent extremist organizations,” also known as VEOs. In 2015, Bolduc said that there are nearly 50 terrorist organizations and “illicit groups” operating on the African continent.

Terror attacks in sub-Saharan Africa have skyrocketed in the past decade. Between 2006 and 2015, the last year covered by data from the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland, attacks jumped from about 100 per year to close to 2,000. “From 2010 to the present,” Bolduc says in the report, “VEOs in Africa have been some of the most lethal on the planet.”

“Many of Africa’s indicators are trending downward,” he writes. “We believe the situation in Africa will get worse without our assistance.”

Colby Goodman, the director of the Washington, D.C.–based Security Assistance Monitor, pointed to some recent tactical gains against terror groups, but warned that progress might be short-lived and unsustainable. “My continuing concerns about U.S. counterterrorism strategy in Africa,” he said, “is an over-focus on tactical military support to partner countries at the expense of a more whole-government approach and a lack of quality assessments and evaluations of U.S. security aid to these countries.”

US Wants Syria Balkanized and Destroyed

US Wants Syria Balkanized and Destroyed | syria | War Propaganda World News

Russian and US objectives are world’s apart in Syria. Moscow hopes de-escalation zones can be an important step toward conflict resolution, wanting them instituted nationwide, a major turning point if achieved.

Neocon policymakers in Washington want endless conflict, regime change, and Syrian sovereignty destroyed, balkanizing the country part of their scheme.

US special forces and marines in northern Syria, bordering Turkey, aided by US terror-bombing, want the territory split from Damascus.

A similar scheme is intended for southern Syria, bordering Jordan and Iraq, an unnamed Syrian military source saying government forces won’t let US-led Western and rogue regional allies create a buffer zone to be used as a safe haven for terrorists they support.

Russian-language Investia cited a military source, saying government forces intend securing control over parts of the Damascus road to Baghdad – to secure arms and munitions supplied from Iraq.

Former general Mohammad Abbas said US-backed terrorists plan a southern Syria buffer zone, similar to Golan, bordering Jordan and Iraq. Government forces intend preventing it.

On the pretext of combating ISIS, Syrian intelligence warned about possible US, UK and Jordanian forces intending to invade southern Syria.

Damascus is on high alert, aided by Russian intelligence. No southern invasion so far occurred.

Separately, US-led terror-bombing continues massacring civilians in Syria. On May 15, its Foreign Ministry accused Washington and its allies of killing 26 civilians in Raqqa province’s al-Ekirshi village, many others injured, the death toll expected to rise.

A separate US-led attack in Albu Kamal massacred 31 civilian men, women and children, numerous others injured, many severely – residential areas targeted, knowing civilians would perish.

On Tuesday, US-led terror-bombing killed dozens of civilians and wounded many others in Deir Ezzor.

So-called coalition aerial operations are killing noncombatants regularly on the phony pretext of combating ISIS America and its rogue allies support.

Israeli Minister Calls for Assassinating Assad

Israeli Minister Calls for Assassinating Assad | israeli-minister-yoav-galant | Sleuth Journal Special Interests World News

The US/Israeli axis represents humanity’s greatest threat – serial aggressors, partners in high crimes, waging endless wars.

Today is the most perilous time in world history because of their sinister agenda – along with the threat NATO represents.

Housing and construction minister Yoav Galant formerly was an IDF general, heading its Southern Command, in charge of December 2008/January 2009 preemptive naked aggression on Gaza – later criticized by then-attorney general Yehuda Weinstein for illegally seizing public land, judged unfit to be IDF chief of staff.

Elected to the Knesset in 2015, he’s part of Netanyahu’s extremist regime. As housing and construction minister, he’s responsible for expanding illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land, ruthlessly displacing its legal occupants.

On Tuesday, he called for assassinating Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, fabricating accusations against him, saying he “does not have a place in this world.”

He lied claiming “(t)he reality of the situation in Syria is that they are executing people, using directed chemical attacks against them, and the latest extreme – burning their corpses, something we haven’t seen in 70 years.”

Shamelessly he referred to the Nazi holocaust, based on Assistant US Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Stuart Jones’ Big Lie – falsely accusing Assad of killing thousands of prisoners, then cremating them to hide evidence, offering no evidence of his spurious claim other than fake photos, a common US, NATO, Israeli tactic.

Separately on Army Radio, Galant despicably compared Assad to Hitler, saying “(w)hat is happening in Syria is defined as genocide…hundreds of thousands killed” – blaming him for high crimes committed by US-led aggression, Israel partnering in it, wanting a regional rival eliminated.

“In my view, we are crossing a red line,” Galant claimed, adding “the time has come to assassinate Assad. It’s as simple as that,” cutting off the “tail of the snake, (then) focus(ing) on the head…in Tehran.”

Allied with Washington’s imperial agenda, Israel wants all regional rivals eliminated. Conquering Syria, if achieved, isolates Iran. Targeting its government and Hezbollah come next, redrawing the Middle East map its objective, aiming to be its dominant, unchallenged power.

Former general Galant favors pursuing Israeli objectives militarily, featuring endless wars of aggression, mass slaughter and destruction – risking direct confrontation with Russia if pushed too far.

Russian Senator Calls US Claim of Mass Executions in Syria a Scheme to Undermine Peace Talks

Russian Senator Calls US Claim of Mass Executions in Syria a Scheme to Undermine Peace Talks | Russian-Senator-Calls-US-Claim-of-Mass-Executions-in-Syria-a-Scheme-to-Undermine-Peace-Talks | War Propaganda World News

Assistant US Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Stuart Jones’ claim about mass executions in Syria, then cremating bodies to hide evidence, was a bald-faced lie – likely OK’d by Rex Tillerson, his boss, a shameless act, clearly intended to undermine conflict resolution.

Russia upper house Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Konstantin Kosachev blasted the accusation, calling it falsified, phony evidence cited, nothing credible, saying:

“(With a) new phase (of) Geneva (peace) talks (beginning on May 16, without US participation), the Americans…once again (aim to) shift attention to (Assad, aiming to) undermin(e) the peace process…”

“(T)he US should understand that it bears a hefty responsibility for the future of the peace process in Syria.”

In recent interviews, Assad explained hostile US policy toward Syria remains unchanged under Trump, escalating conflict, not constructively working to end it, supporting ISIS and other terrorist groups, not combating them.

The latest round of Geneva talks are scheduled from May 16 – 19, little more expected this time than earlier – because Washington, Israel and their rogue partners want endless war and regime change. Turkey wants northern Syria annexed.

Russia hopes its de-escalation zone plan will advance things toward peace, a noble aim, unachievable so far, perhaps many more months or years of conflict before possible.

On Tuesday, Damascus denounced false State Department claims about mass executions and cremations, part of US war on Syria, propaganda used to wage it, a  government statement saying:

American “accusations…are not true, just like previous claims of ‘chemical weapons’ and ‘barrel bombs’ repeated by the US administration.”

“The Syrian government stresses that these accusations…are a figment of the imagination of this administration and its agents.”

They aim to vilify Assad, a scheme for endless war and regime change, no prospect for resolution any time soon.
