“The Technology Is Getting Real” – Laser Weapons Edge Closer To Battlefield Use

By: Zero Hedge |

Three months after China unveiled “Silent Hunter” – its vehicle-slicing laser weapon, Stars & Stripes reports that US military forces are testing their own array of hi-tech weaponry.

The Silent Hunter laser is powerful enough to cut through light vehicle armor at up to a kilometer away, making you wonder if China already has more powerful laser weapons only for domestic use.

And now Military.com reports, the toy-like drones destroyed during an Army field exercise at Fort Sill, Okla., last month weren’t anything special; however, the way they were brought down — zapped out of the sky by lasers mounted on a Stryker armored vehicle — might grab people’s attention.

The first soldier to try out the lasers was Spc. Brandon Sallaway, a forward observer with the 4th Infantry Division. He used a Mobile Expeditionary High Energy Laser to shoot down an 18-by-10-inch drone at 650 yards, an Army statement said.

“It’s nothing too complicated but you have to learn how to operate each system and get used to the controls which is exactly like a video game controller,” said Sallaway, who hadn’t fired a laser before the exercise.

The drone-killing laser was relatively low energy — only 5 kilowatts — but the Army has tested much more powerful weapons. A 30-kilowatt truck-mounted High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator shot down dozens of mortar rounds and several drones in November 2013 at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.

Lockheed Martin’s 30-kilowatt Accelerated Laser Demonstration Initiative, known as ALADIN.

Since then, researchers have made rapid advances in laser weapons, said Bob Ruszkowski, who works on air dominance projects and unmanned systems in Lockheed’s secretive Skunk Works facility.

“We’re really on the cusp of seeing the introduction of lasers in future systems,” he said.

The weapon tested at White Sands is about to double in power with a 60-kilowatt laser the Army plans to test in the next 18 months, he said in a phone interview May 12.

The laser generates its beam through fiber optic cables like those used by telecom companies, said Robert Afzal, a senior fellow for laser and sensor systems at Lockheed.

“We demonstrated that we could combine large number of these fiber lasers and link them to a weapons system,” he said.

Lasers are very efficient at converting electrical power to a laser beam, Afzal said.

That’s important for the platforms that carry them, he said. It means they don’t need a large generator or cooling system and that high-powered lasers can be easily transported.

“This was the key puzzle piece that needed to be solved before we could begin to deploy these laser weapons,” Afzal said. “The technology is getting real. It’s the dawn of a new era where the tech can be made smaller and powerful enough to be put on vehicles, ships and aircraft.”

Scientists showed the potential of more powerful laser weapons in 2015 by burning a hole through a truck’s hood at a range of one mile.

“It was the most efficient high-powered laser ever demonstrated,” Afazal said of the test, which mimicked what might happen if a laser was fired at a vehicle from an aircraft.

During an operation, a laser might be used to disable a vehicle where the goal was to capture rather than kill an individual, Ruszkowski said.

“The laser is a surgical weapon and it’s something customers are interested in,” Afazal said. “Something like that can be easily integrated into an AC-130 gunship. That is something the Air Force is planning on demonstrating in the next two to three years.”

Researchers believe they have the key ingredients to make such a system work, Ruszkowski said.

“When we realized that laser technology was maturing enough that we could be close to having something we could integrate on an aircraft we started looking at other difficulties that might arise,” he said.

Airflow around a plane can destabilize lasers, so engineers developed a way to minimize turbulence, said Ruszkowski, who added that the Navy has deployed a laser weapon on board the USS Ponce in the Persian Gulf.

Laser weapons could be arriving just in time to defeat a growing menagerie of cheap-to-make drones and missiles in the hands of terrorists and rogue states, which could threaten expensive American military hardware.

“The threats are proliferating and changing,” but laser weapons could counter some of them, Afazal said.

An advantage of laser weapons is that they don’t need ammunition, he said. For example, a forward-operating base could protect itself from airborne threats with a laser as long as there was enough fuel to power a generator and recharge its batteries.

Use of such weapons on enemy troops is a gray area that, for now, the U.S. military is steering clear of since international agreements ban the use of weapons intended to blind, Afazal said.

“Before lasers have been deployed and we understand how they work, the policy is conservative,” he said.

When Technology Becomes Religion And Science Becomes God

When Technology Becomes Religion And Science Becomes God | When-Technology-Becomes-Religion-And-Science-Becomes-God | Faith Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Society

Are we in love with how smart we are?  In America today, there are technology companies that have a much larger “cult following” than any religious organization.  And there are millions upon millions of Americans that freely confess that they “believe in science”.  So what does this say about us?  Does it say that we have discarded ancient “superstitions” and instead have embraced logic and reason?  Sadly, in most cases the truth is that we have simply traded one form of religion for another.  Scientists and technology gurus have become our new high priests, and most of us blindly follow whatever they tell us.  But in the end, just like with so many religious organizations, it is all about the money.  Those with the money determine what the science is going to say, who the high priests are going to be, and what messages are conveyed to the public.  For example, once upon a time the big tobacco companies had armies of doctors and scientists that swore up and down that smoking cigarettes was not harmful.  In fact, many doctors and dentists in America once personally endorsed specific brands of cigarettes.  Of course millions of Americans were getting sick and dying, but this was dismissed as “anecdotal evidence”.  And over in Germany, “science” was once used to prove that the Germans were the master race.  We look back in horror now, but at the time the best “science” in the world was used as justification to promote some horrible untruths.  And of course the same thing is happening today.  We are told over and over that “the science is settled” regarding genetically-modified food, climate change and vaccine safety, and yet those of us that think for ourselves know that isn’t the case at all.  But if you do not believe in the “official story”, you don’t get to be part of the “scientific establishment”.  By definition, the only people that get to be “scientific experts” are the ones that embrace the “doctrine” of those that control the big corporations, that fund the research studies at the major universities and that own the big media outlets.  Everyone else is not permitted to be part of the discussion.

As I have written about previously, I spent eight years studying at public universities in the United States.  And over time, I got to see where most “scientific truths” come from these days.

Most of the time, the theories that people believe are so “scientific” were simply pulled out of thin air.  In other words, they were just the product of someone’s overactive imagination.  In recent decades, there have been countless examples of “existing science” being overturned and rewritten when more information and evidence become available.  This is because the “existing science” did not have any foundation to begin with.

And yet we continue to make the same mistake today.  Instead of calling them “theories”, which is what they should do, scientists all over the world are so eager to make bold pronouncements about the wonderful new “discoveries” that they have made.  These bold pronouncements are then repeated over and over and over again until they become “facts”.  But of course they are not facts at all.

For instance, at one time it was a “scientific fact” that it was perfectly safe to smoke cigarettes.  The following comes from an article by Tony Cartalucci

It wasn’t long ago when big-tobacco had armies of “scientists” citing the latest “studies” confirming the health benefits and safety of smoking. Of course these were paid liars, not scientists, even if many of them had PhDs. And it was lies they were telling, even if mixed with shades of science.

In case you are too young to remember those days, Cartalucci included the following compilation of old tobacco ads in his article

When Technology Becomes Religion And Science Becomes God | Science-And-Smoking-460x548 | Faith Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Society

Even worse is how the Nazi used science.

To them, the “facts” of Darwinism proved that they were the master race

Hiding behind science is nothing new. Darwinists hid behind it to prop up their racism, which in fact inspired the Nazis to hide behind it to scientifically prove they were the “master race.” The Nazis, in fact, loved science, and used it with horrible precision.

At any point in history, has “science” ever had all the answers?

Of course not.

And without a doubt, someday people will look back and mock all of us for how stupid we were.

But we never stop to consider that.  Instead, we are all just so proud of ourselves and our accomplishments.

In fact, as I mentioned above, there are a lot of people out there who virtually worship technology these days.  Just consider the following excerpt from a Los Angeles Times article entitled “How Steve Jobs and Apple turned technology into a religion“…

Decades after Apple’s founding, we’ve grown used to referring to lovers of the company’s products as a “cult.” The devotion of customers to Apple products has long been the envy of competitors for its fanatical fervor.

It turns out that the religious intensity with which people follow the company is not entirely by accident. In a new book, “Appletopia,” author Brett Robinson examines the way that Steve Jobs drew on religious metaphors and iconography to elevate his products specifically, and technology more generally, into a kind of religion.

“The creative rhetoric around Apple’s technology has favored religious metaphors,” Robinson said in an interview. “Some of it is conscious on Apple’s part. Some of it is unconscious.”

But certainly this is less strange than what a lot of religious people do, right?

After all, there are millions upon millions of people out there that do some really strange things in the name of religion.  For example, on the other side of the globe 400 men cut off their own testicles in an attempt to get closer to God.

Many would say that our worship of science and technology is evidence that we have evolved beyond our ancestors.  In fact, there are some “scientific minds” that are now proclaiming that science will one day eliminate belief in God altogether.  For example, the following comes from an article entitled “Will Science Someday Rule Out the Possibility of God?“…

Over the past few centuries, science can be said to have gradually chipped away at the traditional grounds for believing in God. Much of what once seemed mysterious — the existence of humanity, the life-bearing perfection of Earth, the workings of the universe — can now be explained by biology, astronomy, physics and other domains of science.

Although cosmic mysteries remain, Sean Carroll, a theoretical cosmologist at the California Institute of Technology, says there’s good reason to think science will ultimately arrive at a complete understanding of the universe that leaves no grounds for God whatsoever.

Carroll argues that God’s sphere of influence has shrunk drastically in modern times, as physics and cosmology have expanded in their ability to explain the origin and evolution of the universe. “As we learn more about the universe, there’s less and less need to look outside it for help,” he told Life’s Little Mysteries.

Personally, I find this laughable.

Darwinists have been trying to move God out of the picture for decades, but they are fighting a losing battle.  Over time, more and more evidence has come out that has shot the theory of evolution full of holes.  For much more on this, please see my previous article entitled “44 Reasons Why Evolution Is Just A Fairy Tale For Adults“.

And as far as whether or not God exists, this is something that I have been investigating for many, many years.  My legal training has taught me to think critically and to allow the evidence to speak for itself.  Over time, I came to learn that there is a vast mountain of evidence that leads to one inescapable conclusion.  In the end, the overwhelming conclusion that I reached was that God is very, very real.  You can find a few of my thoughts in an article entitled “Did You Know?

So what do you think?

Does our society worship technology?

Has “science” become a god in America?

Please feel free to add to the discussion by posting a comment below…

Technology Is The Master Of Modern Slavery

Technology Is The Master Of Modern Slavery | techno-slaves | Government Control Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Society Special Interests

By: Tom Chatham, Project Chesapeake |

The recent cyber attack on computers worldwide is just the latest wakeup call to the future we are blindly building for ourselves. The vast majority of humanity embraces technology like it is their next breath of air. Without it, they feel like they will die.

Technology is a double edged sword that we wield that must be handled with care less we cut off one of our own limbs. Technology allows us to be more productive and work faster than without it but as we embrace more technology to relieve us of many manual tasks we must not let it rule our very existence.

Technology must be used as a lever, not a crutch. When we give up our ability to function in daily life and allow technology to rule our every move, we ultimately give up our freedom. To allow technology to dictate what we can do and when we can do it is to reduce ourselves to nothing more than compliant slaves to it.

When a hospital cannot perform operations or even see patients because their computers are down or we cannot communicate or travel because of computer hacking, we have allowed technology to become a crutch that prevents us from falling on our faces in its absence. When we cannot buy food or fuel or depend on electrical power for basic needs we have become too dependent on the technology we invented to assist us.

The use of technology is a good thing that allows us to move forward and build things we never dreamed of before but when it becomes a weakness, we need to reexamine our use of it. If we become so dependent on technology that we cannot function without it we are preparing ourselves for a doomsday scenario when it eventually fails and we are helpless to care for ourselves.

It is only logical to have backup systems to utilize in the event our technology fails for some reason. This is the whole reason we have people to warn us before hand such as the EMP Commission to tell us we are in danger if certain events happen. Technology provides us with many good things but it also leaves us susceptible to many bad things as well if we ignore our responsibility to use it wisely and not become too dependant on it.

Many people today can actually have withdrawal symptoms if they lose access to their technology for any length of time. This should be an alarm to society but most just brush it off as fear mongering. When the loss of technology causes a business to completely stop operations, that should be an indication they do not have sufficient backup systems to fall back on.

One of the prime tenants of the prepper movement is that they have multiple backup systems to rely on if technology stops working. This is just a logical step taken by people that have taken the time to analyze the threats posed by the loss our technology and determine action is warranted for the preservation of life following certain events. The less technology you require to take care of daily activities, the more freedom you have to live a normal life.

Most people still do not take the threat of technological disruptions to society seriously. They think that if something happens, someone will fix it and life will go on as normal. What they refuse to contemplate is if something happens and nobody can fix it. As society moves along this technological road they become more dependent on it and the risk to their lives increases as they lose the ability to do basic tasks. Hopefully this latest cyber attack will instill in people the need to have backup systems in place to continue their daily activities and live life as a free person and not be a slave to the technology they so eagerly seek.

Technological Innovation Will Make You Retire Earlier

Technological Innovation Will Make You Retire Earlier | technology-human-transhuman | Economy & Business Science & Technology Special Interests

(The Real Agenda News) The losers will be those who work to live, those who simply go to work every day to carry out tasks that do not satisfy them at all.

Three American entrepreneurs founded Marble two years ago. In the heat of cars driving alone, they saw an opportunity in short-distance logistics.

Based on robotics, artificial intelligence, GPS and endless new technologies they created a robot that, seen from the outside, looks like a simple ice-cream cart. But that is able to move around the city by itself.

“Our long-term goal is to reduce costs and ensure that it is useful in every city in the world,” one of Marble’s founders, Matthew Delaney, told AFP. It may be the end of urban couriers and delivery agents.

Messaging, as the final link in logistics, transport and distribution, was already featured in the seminal report of 2013 by two Oxford University professors, Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael Osborne, on the future of work and listed more than 700 occupations and their degree of susceptibility to computerization and automation, making the humans who perform them until now dispensable.

Carriers, clerks, librarians, officials … but also insurance agents, secretaries, watchmakers, bankers …

“As machines learn to do more things, they also make them better and better, much better than people, and at a lower cost, to think that there will be more employment of the type we know today as employment is simply absurd “, says the professor of IE Business School, Enrique Dans.

“If we restrict employment to what we know today as such, forget it: there will be much less. But what we have to think about is that we are going to a world where many people will do things that today we would not consider employment, but they will be,” he adds.

Last December, the White House, still chaired by Barack Obama, published a report on the impact of automation and artificial intelligence on the US economy.

Along with promises of economic growth and new job sites, it also noted that the jobs most threatened by the new wave of technologies have one thing in common: in general, they are the lowest paid and the least qualified.

Dans explains it this way:

“Losers will be the ones who work to live, those who simply go to work every day to perform tasks that do not satisfy them at all, but that they need to do to obtain money that is essential to them. These jobs, in their vast majority, will disappear and will be replaced by machines whenever there is an economic interest to make them more efficient and competitive.”

This destructive side of technology is the first thing people see. The REIsearch project, promoted by the Atomium – European Institute for Science, Media and Democracy, has just launched a large public survey calling on Europeans about the impact of the new generation of internet technologies on the different aspects of life, from employment to politics.

Although the survey has only been running for a few days, only 10% agree or strongly agree with the statement that the digitization of the economy will offer “meaningful employment for all, and will generate wages equivalent or higher than the current ones.”

However, more than half of the future’s employment is yet to be invented, according to various studies. And the machines will not be able to do many other jobs.

Professor Frey from Oxford explained that there will be at least three areas that will remain human.

“It will be creativity, the development of new ideas and artifacts, the most complex social interactions, where people negotiate, persuade or manage equipment, and the third has to do with the perception and manipulation of irregular objects.”

The wave of technological innovations is not only putting work backward, it is also altering businesses and business sectors that had adapted well to the first technological changes, those of the end of the last century.

The biggest impact is taking place at the platforms of the so-called collaborative economy like Uber, eBay or TaskRabbit. One of them is Airbnb, which allows individuals to offer rooms or houses for a few days.

Airbnb today has an offer of more than two million rooms in 34,000 cities in 190 countries. Neither the top 10 hotel chains in the world have an equal offer.

A study promoted by the Foundation for Innovation Cotec, Adigital, the Spanish association of the digital economy, the Circle of Entrepreneurs and the Foundation of Financial Studies, is being finalised and an ample report will be made public on this type of platforms and their impact on the economy and the sectors that can be most affected by the end of their intermediation.

Although their results will not be known for a few weeks, they believe they will allow an in-depth discussion, with data, of what needs to be regulated and to what extent for these new phenomena to take advantage of the whole society.

Otherwise, in case the balance of the impact of technology on humans is negative, a reaction may occur. “Technological creativity depends to a large extent on those political structures that allow us to progress.

“If the majority do not feel that they do not benefit from these structures, they will go against it in some way or another.” For the Oxford professor, this explains in part the rise of populism in Europe and the USA:

“If we look at the outcome of the US election, we see that the Republican candidate -Donald Trump- was supported by the places that have been the most susceptible to automation in recent years. People are worried about the future of those regions and their desire for change.”

New “Smart Phone” Will Be Quietly Studying Your Behavior And Reacting In Real-Time (VIDEO)

New "Smart Phone" Will Be Quietly Studying Your Behavior And Reacting In Real-Time (VIDEO) | phone-spy | Multimedia Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Special Interests

The march towards an Orwellian future where every form of human behavior is being monitored by AI driven appliances and electronics is quickly becoming a reality. This was the plan from the start and as we can see the ruling elite have not slowed down one bit in their attempt to create this kind of world.

It is thus no surprise that Samsung is releasing a new smart phone last week called the S8 and S8+ that has a software called “Bixby” which will be studying your behavior in real-time and will be reacting, responding and “learning” from you accordingly.

The new Samsung S8 smart phone represents one of the first portable devices released to the general public in which the owner will be officially creating a 2-way relationship with the machine. The phone will carry a feature that can be activated which will require biometric data (retinal scan and facial recognition) in order to use the phone and you can sure many people will take advantage of this feature. Passwords and pin numbers will soon be no more as the masses are conditioned into using biometric data.

The Bixby software in the latest Samsung smart phone will:

“learn your routines to serve up the right apps at the right time”

And it:

“is an intelligent interface that learns from you to help you do more.”

The dark technocratic future of humanity is now coming to full view as the technocratic ruling elite continue to push their technocracy and technology to no end.

The questions that we need to be asking ourselves are questions like, when will humanity as a whole start pushing back? When will those in the Department of Justice demand an end to unnecessary research? When will people in large masses call this out and consider certain advanced scientific research unethical? When will the line be crossed where additional research into certain areas like artificial intelligence (AI) be considered an act of aggression against humanity or even a punishable crime? I’m referring to the people of the nation states demanding observation of human right to privacy and holding elected officials accountable. And I’m also referring to consumers becoming aware of what they buy and choosing where and how they spend their money.

I believe all of this is part of the JADE (at the) HELM revelations of 2015-2016. A plan for “mastering the human domain”. A plan made possible by companies like Ratheon which have been pushing a thing called BBN AI technology, a highly sophisticated technological platform that incorporates super high speed real-time learning, adaptation and awareness features. (see video below for more)

Solutions

Stopping the agenda of the technocrats is the solution. People everywhere must step up, begin paying attention and start fighting back. And the very first thing we need to do is shine a bright light on this issue, spread the awareness and hope that enough people see the problem. That means educating the stubborn “Progressive” Liberal Left and anyone else who has a blind faith in technology. This awareness must then turn into action. Here are some solutions.

1- Throw away, disable or stop using your smart phone or any smart device around your home for that matter.

2- Replace your smart phone with a non-smart phone

3- Change your paradigm and see if you can free yourself from cell phones all together

4- Realize that smart phones and smart devices are slowly being pulled into the equation for work and survival. Demand that your boss (if you work for someone) not force you to use a smart device. Let’s challenge the legality of this now growing practice and problem. Just focusing and pointing to the dangers of EMF waves emitted by these devices alone may give us the legal authority to stop employers from requiring the use of these devices.

5- If you must have a cell phone (like many of us do) then learn all the safest ways to use it which include among other things keeping it as far away from your body as possible.

6- As best you can, stop texting your friends and family for every little thing and go back to talking to each other and meeting in person.

7- Make a focused effort to raise awareness of this issue and help spread the word.

Finally, realize that Technocracy is just another form of oppression. Despite all the voices of today that glorify technological advancements, realize that humans are made to move around and work while on earth. It’s the large corporations that want to replace all forms of labor with robots. It’s the ruling elite in control of the nation states that want every form of behavior recorded with the aid of their technology and very little to none of this actually benefits humanity. While many inventions of the 19th century improved the human experience the technological advancements of today are going far beyond what humanity needs to be happy and healthy. Let’s learn to identify this problem quickly so we can implement solutions today and now.

Unplug From The Matrix And Escape The Grip Of Social Engineers

Unplug From The Matrix And Escape The Grip Of Social Engineers | globe-world-surveillance-tracking-microchips | Consciousness Off-Grid & Independent Living Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Society

By: Daniel Taylor | Old-Thinker News –

We have been slowly chained down in a kind of technological cave. The age in which we are living has enabled the potential for human isolation like no other time in history. And not just physical isolation. Our reality is increasingly controlled by people we have never seen or even know exist.

You can change the world by starting with the world inside you. Set a humble example for others to follow and carry the fire.

The following is an excerpt from Daniel Taylor’s book The Age of Disconnection.

Technology already has a significant influence on our lives, but the age that we are entering will have an even greater – and probably unforeseen – impact. Unless we learn how to stay connected with our fellow human beings, the influx of new technology in our day to day lives in this era will have a profoundly disconnecting effect.

It isn’t just technology that is responsible for creating this environment of disconnection. The mass schooling system that has dominated western society for decades has played a major role. Our system of schooling is good for social sorting and command and control, but the dynamic human spirit and the kaleidoscope of diverse intelligence that inhabits it is absolutely crushed under its dead weight.

The modern schooling system isn’t connected to the real world. It is the great dis-connector. Everyone knows this intuitively. That’s why there are always individuals within the structure of the system who kick sand into the gears of the machine. Easily managed, predictable “cookie cutter” people are the ideal human resource, which happens to be the way the architects of modern schooling view the majority of humanity; as human resources. Imagination and creativity have no place in this system. Technology exacerbates these traits of a well schooled society.

Mankind, at this stage in our history, has reached a point in which the many roles that our ancestors took upon themselves are now delegated to others. Our ancestors hunted for their food; We buy it prepackaged at Wal-Mart. Our ancestors built their homes; Now someone else builds them for us. In short, the raw reality of survival and the fragility of life has been lost on the majority of modern mankind. It is not something that we need to focus on every day.

These luxuries are by no means a bad thing, but to take them for granted and fall into a state of complacency is not healthy. Collectively we seem to be running away from making this recognition. The secret is that mankind thrives under adversity. We aren’t facing the challenge of survival, thrill of adventure and warfare that our ancestors did. Is this partly why 70% of Americans are on prescription drugs, mostly anti-depressants?

The truth is, we have fallen into a state of complacency, and we all tend to ignore or at the very least downplay serious threats to our way of life. In this environment, predatory humansdivorced from natural lawhave placed themselves in positions of power and treat the vast majority of humanity as lab rats in a cage. It is inside this cage that our lives become disconnected. Artificial means of satisfying human instincts have been given to us. But are we truly free, truly happy?

Do you text more often than you talk? There was a time before cell phones when we had to pick up the phone and actually talk to the person we wanted to reach. Unlike texting, attention is given to inflection in the other person’s voice. It communicates emotion and intent. Listening is required for both parties. Here’s a challenge for you: Make a conscious decision to call the person you want to talk to rather than text. If it feels awkward – well, that says something, doesn’t it?

Cell phones have seriously hurt our collective conversation etiquette. We simply aren’t fully present with the person in front of us when we are distracted by our phones. Recent college graduates, who have grown up attached to their hand held devices, are paying a price for this bad habit. An article from USA Today announced “Many college grads lack interview skills.” They are taking calls and texting during important job interviews. HR executives are finding this troubling trend to be accelerating. Otherwise qualified job candidates are being rejected because of their addiction to mobile devices.

Learn more in The Age of Disconnection

Our net connected gadgets are wiring our brains for distraction. How often can you say that you are truly living in the present moment? Are you constantly checking your phone? Is your mind preoccupied merely with the anticipation of a new message? Being mindful takes practice, especially in our technological era. Make a habit of focusing your full attention on now. Notice your breath, the shape and color of the leaves on the tree, how your body is standing or sitting. Simply relax. Electronic gadgets which seem to fill up every second of our free time distract us from doing any kind of introspection. In the event that we did we may end up focusing on our own state, and eventually our wider society.

As a society we are increasingly finding ourselves in a passive observer mode. We watch what our friends are doing on our facebook feed, which, to our dismay, often makes us feel inadequate in comparison. We watch eagerly for the next viral video. We model ourselves after scripted characters on television instead of creating ourselves. What are you adding to the world? Turn the TV off for a while and re-discover the world around you. Let your thoughts (about yourself, others, and the world) be your own, not suggested by someone else. Own your consciousness.

What will you do when widespread human augmentation begins to take place? It could be here in 10-20 years. For a select few it will be here much sooner. There will undoubtedly be movements started to counter this trend when it becomes an apparent reality. What about the acceptance of life like robotic sex partners? Radical life extension? The meaning of human life and our connection to each other will be challenged in a major way. Our society will undergo a reorientation much like what happened after the industrial revolution only on a much larger scale.

You have a choice!

All of these things have one thing in common; You have a choice in how you are using technology. The societal ills stemming from technology are a natural outgrowth of individual choices being made each day. Technology (and how we use it) reveals the deeper things of the human soul. Focus on how you are living. It is easy to fall into the victim mindset that says “I am this way because of our society and things outside of my control,” but the reality is that we all have a choice. We are self-aware beings. We can choose another way. Here’s the key: When we take back our consciousness and focus on changing ourselves on a deep level, the way we use technology will naturally change as well. You can be an example to the rest of humanity of what we are capable of. You don’t have to follow the script of social engineers.

Start unplugging as much as you can today. I predict that individuals who do this will become the envy of the world some day. Their ability to connect with other people will shine brightly in a disconnected world. Relationships for these people will simply be better. Employers will seek them out for their ability to think creatively. Friends and family will ask them for direction. Our solution lies in re-claiming our very souls and reconnecting with humanity. In almost every case throughout history, civilizations fall when humanity is debased and loses touch with themselves, their neighbors and the wider world.

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave (written in 390 B.C.) describes a group of human beings who have lived their whole lives chained down in a dark cave. Their entire existence consists of analyzing shadows on the wall in front of them. Puppeteers move the figures back and forth while the captives take pride in naming them as they pass by. This is their reality. One day a prisoner is released. His sensitive eyes are blinded by the bright sun. His former reality is shattered as he sees the strange puppeteers moving the shapes that he so proudly named. He eventually becomes familiar with the color, shape and sound of the upper world. He is enlightened. In Plato’s words,

“And when he remembered his old habitation, and the wisdom of the cave and his fellow-prisoners, do you not suppose that he would felicitate himself on the change, and pity them?”

“Imagine once more, I said, such an one coming suddenly out of the sun to be replaced in his old situation; would he not be certain to have his eyes full of darkness?”

What is the moral of this story in the age of disconnection?

We have been slowly chained down in a kind of technological cave. The age in which we are living has enabled the potential for human isolation like no other time in history. And not just physical isolation. Our reality is increasingly controlled by people we have never seen or even know exist. Edward Bernays, the father of modern propaganda, summed it up like this:

“[We are governed by] an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country… We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.”

The cave of our time consists of all technology that limits our consciousness; Our awareness of the present moment. The creators of the modern cave have made it quite enjoyable for us. In some ways it is much more exciting than the real world. It entices us with its dark allure. If humanity were to be completely absorbed by this matrix, each generation that is born will be acclimated to the “reality” of the cave. The memory of human existence and true connection would fade into darkness.

Is this scenario inevitable? Absolutely not! There is a distinct difference between Plato’s prisoners and us. We have a hopeful advantage over them. If we were to enter Plato’s cave we would have to consciously decide to like it. We would exist in a state of cognitive dissonance. For the most part we have an awareness of what we could be missing in the world outside the cave. We know that there is a beautiful universe to behold, freedom to be defended, ideas to explore, and creativity to express.

Our world is set to undergo dramatic changes. We face difficult choices. You don’t need to set out on a grand mission to change the globe. Focus on how you are treating others. How are you living your life?

One of the greatest challenges over the coming years will be the prospect of retaining our humanity. It is easy to harden your heart toward others, the world, and yourself. You can change the world by starting with the world inside you. Set a humble example for others to follow and carry the fire.

Absurd Valuations on Unprofitable Tech Stocks

Absurd Valuations on Unprofitable Tech Stocks | stock-market-economy | Economy & Business Special Interests

The Treasury Secretary chimes in on what any market watcher should know instinctively. Mnuchin talks tech: ‘I don’t understand these valuations’, yet the price on promises and future expectation of earnings has a large amount of the equity speculators and computerized trading in a crisis of sanity. Avoiding the fundamental relationship that a stock value is based upon the ability of a company to turn a profit, has become the hottest investment hoax since Bernard Madoff was pitching his Ponzi scheme. UberSnapchat and Twitter may be high flyers for the smart set, but for rational venture capitalists, plunking down gambles on risky enterprises that only feed on publicity hype is a sure bet on going broke.

While angel funding, seed investment and incubation have a nice ring to their functions, what they all have in common is gaining a piece of the equity action before any IPO is sold to the investment insiders, much less the general public. What is often lost is that any new startup enterprise must develop cash flow well before any earnings can be achieved.

Defying common sense, many of this new generation of cutting edge technology companies are pitching a dream that often turns into a nightmare for the imprudent investor. At least Apple sells, admittedly very overpriced phones, a product that has a functional and utilitarian purpose. But what possible claim of intrinsic worth does a trendy app have when duplication of utility is achieved by a tech giant as Facebook?

Even the most bombastic huckster, Elon Reeve Musk finds himself reliant on the intrepid waters of government subsidies to keep his bubble run on solar cells, alive. Yet his stock price keeps inflating with little financial connection to turning a profit, even when Sparks fly on Wall Street over Tesla’s current valuation.

“For now, Musk and his team have built up enough investor goodwill to buy him time to follow through his vision. Tesla narrowly missed its target of delivering 80,000 vehicles last year and has only reported two profitable quarters in its brief history. Nonetheless, its rapid rise could see it accelerate past Honda and move into the top five most valuable carmakers in the world.

This comes as the finances of Ford and GM are in rude health. GM is expected to earn more than $9bn this year and Ford to rake in profits of $6.3bn; Tesla is expected to lose more than $950m.”

Come on folks, in what mystical world of consumer sales indifference does one accept that in the immediate future buyers will jump from the torque of a four wheel drive F-150 V-8 into the restriction of a Tesla electric cord? In order to make this fantasy work Road and Track contends, The Case for a Tesla-GM Merger. The argument simply comes down to “You put together a carmaker with mojo and a carmaker with capacity.”

“We live in an era where brick-and-mortar companies frequently play second fiddle to apps and platforms and clouds and other entirely ephemeral ideas. It suits the stock market just fine, because the stock market is much like the baseball-card market, or the art market, in that it serves more as a reflection of prevailing views than as any truly prescient or even intelligent verdict regarding a company’s merit. It’s an illusion. Of course, it is an illusion with the power to build fortunes and destroy lives in a millisecond.”

When government motors was bailed out by the Obama administration to save the unions while wiping out the bond holders, GM was given a second chance at the taxpayer expense. Now we are suppose to accept another rescue of Tesla debt to keep the illusion that the future belongs to the driverless “green” vehicle. Hey, why not just go all the way; ban humans from using gas guzzlers on the highways, while taxing a per mile user fee to replace the gas tax? Just keep diesel commercial trucks to navigate the steep grades to fix all the infrastructure that driverless vehicles will use.

The absurdity of this brave new world is as obscene as the stock prices of the technocratic anti-human robot society that is facing an expendable population. Nonetheless, do not take our analysis for the last word. Look to the essay in The Street, From the Absurd to the Ridiculous: When Fundamentals Don’t Matter, where the example of Yahoo is reviewed.

“Yahoo! (YHOO) , which was a highly valued company during the dot-com era.

When looking at Yahoo!’s price and P/E ratio, the fundamentals didn’t really reflect the stock price. Yahoo! was trading at nearly 3,500 times its P/E ratio at one point, which may have been unjustified.

Following that, the markets were quick to realize that the company wasn’t that valuable, and it began to tank once the bubble popped.

Take a look at how Yahoo!’s market capitalization evolved over time. Prior to the dot-com bubble, Yahoo! had a market cap of less than $1 billion.

However, during the bubble, Yahoo!’s market cap rose to more than $100 billion at its peak. Thereafter, its market cap and share price fell significantly, with the former falling to between $5 billion and $10 billion.”

If such a stable of the computer age as Yahoo could be reduced to the humiliation of a hostile takeover by Verizon at a price not much more than an unknown startup as Team Chat provider Slack with a valuation of about $3.8 billion, what true value does any of these high tech ventures provide over time? Anyone remember one of the scores of services from Yahoo called Messenger? Do the math, plunging down your bucks on such moving targets as superficial fads is most risky.

Google search beat out Yahoo, but will Alphabet retain the preeminent crown of dominance with their imposition of censorship and filtering out of free speech? Stock values are never guaranteed and especially with tech companies, you are only safe if competition is eliminated.

Tech Stocks Experience Their Longest Losing Streak In 5 Years As Panic Begins To Grip The Market

Tech Stocks Experience Their Longest Losing Streak In 5 Years As Panic Begins To Grip The Market | Bull-Market-Bear-Market-Public-Domain-700x468 | Economy & Business News Articles

S&P 500 tech stocks have now fallen for 9 days in a row. The last time tech stocks declined for so many days in a row was in 2012, and that was the only other time in history when we have seen such a long losing streak. As I have stated before, the post-election “Trump rally” is officially done, and the market is starting to roll over as investors begin to realize that all of the buying momentum has completely evaporated. Tech stocks tend to be particularly volatile, and so the fact that they are starting to lead the way down should definitely be alarming to many in the investing community.

Of course it isn’t just tech stocks that are falling. The Dow was down another 59 points on Wednesday, and the S&P 500 has closed beneath its 50 day moving average for the very first time since the election. For those that have been waiting for a key technical signal before getting out of the market, there is one for you.

The price of gold was up again, and that is definitely not surprising in this geopolitical environment. The closer we get to war the higher gold and silver prices will go, and if we actually get into a major conflict we will see them blast into the stratosphere.

Another key indicator that I am watching very closely is the VIX. On Wednesday it shot up above 16 for the very first time since the day after Trump’s election victory, and many believe that it could soon go much higher. The following is an excerpt from a CNBC report

The VIX measures the size of the S&P 500’s expected moves over the next 30 days, and consequently tends to run just a bit hotter than volatility over the past 30 days. Yet one-month realized volatility is just 6.7, meaning the VIX is at a roughly 9-point premium, which Chintawongvanich calls “highly unusual.”

That said, he notes that implied volatility was also at a large premium preceding the U.K. referendum to leave the EU and the U.S. presidential election. The obvious conclusion is that the market is now similarly preparing itself for the French presidential election, which is set to be held on April 23. Some fear that a populist candidate could prevail, which may cause more problems for the European Union and thus for economic stability.

As noted in that excerpt, the upcoming French election is absolutely huge. If the election goes “the wrong way” according to the globalists, it could literally mean the end of the European Union as it is configured today.

And of course of even greater concern is the global march toward war. It is being reported that North Korea is on the verge of a major nuclear weapons test, and such an act of defiance could be enough to push Donald Trump into conducting a major military strike.

But if Trump does hit North Korea, it is quite likely that North Korea will hit back. The North Koreans are promising to use nuclear weapons in any conflict with the United States, and if Trump bungles this thing we could easily be looking at a scenario in which millions of people end up dead.

Things also continue to get more tense in the Middle East. The Russians and the Iranians are promising to respond to any additional U.S. strikes “with force”, and on Wednesday Trump declared that our relationship with Russia “may be at an all-time low”.

Of course this came shortly after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson used similar language following his face to face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian President Vladimir Putin held more than two hours of “very frank” talks Wednesday in the Kremlin amid tensions over a U.S. airstrike against a Syria air base blamed for last week’s deadly chemical attack.

In remarks to reporters after the meeting, Tillerson said he told the Russian leader that current relations between the two countries are at a “low point.”

If the Trump administration conducts any more strikes on Syria, it is quite likely that the Russians and Iranians will make good on their threats and will start firing back.

And once U.S. aircraft or U.S. naval vessels come under fire, the calls for war in Washington will become absolutely deafening.

Unfortunately, Trump is not likely to back down any time soon because the recent missile strike in Syria has dramatically boosted his popularity. According to every recent survey, the American people overwhelmingly approve of what Trump did…

A Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday found that 57% of Americans supported airstrikes in Syria, 58% supported establishing a no-fly zone over parts of Syria including strikes against Syria’s air-defense systems, and 63% of Americans thought the US should do more to end the Syrian conflict. Even more, 66% of respondents said they supported the Trump administration’s strike last week specifically.

This mirrored results of another recent poll from CBS News in which 57% of Americans said they approved of the US strike. A Pew Research Center survey from this week showed a similar level of support, with 58% of Americans approving of the strike.

Sadly, this is a time when the majority is dead wrong. Many of those that are supporting military action against Syria now were vehemently against it when Barack Obama was considering it.

Even Donald Trump spoke out very strongly against military intervention in Syria in 2013, and he was quite right to do so, and so what has suddenly changed that now makes it okay?

There is nothing to be gained in Syria, but we could very easily end up in a direct military conflict with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah which could ultimately prove to be the spark that sets off World War III.

And of course a military strike on North Korea could also potentially spark a global war. The first Korean War resulted in a direct military conflict between the United States and China, and the second Korean War could easily result in the exact same thing happening again.

Do the American people really want war with both Russia and China at the same time?

It has been said that you should be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

5G and IoT: Total Technological Control Grid Being Rolled Out Fast

5G and IoT: Total Technological Control Grid Being Rolled Out Fast | 5G-IoT-internet-of-things-technological-control-grid | Science & Technology Sleuth Journal

The IoT is the manifestation of the agenda to turn limitless and free humans into
controllable nodes on the synthetic network.

5G is being rolled out fast right now, with Verizon testing it out in 11 US cities and ATT also conducting experiments. For those who don’t know, 5G is the latest wireless system that telecommunications companies are trying to implement to service wireless communication. It’s designed to allow faster downloads of more data. It uses the 28, 37 and 39 GHz bands, also known as millimetre wave (mmW) spectrum. 5G, which comes from the term 5th generation, is designed to work in conjunction with what former CIA head David Petraeus called the Internet of Things or IoT. The agenda is to hook every single material thing on the planet, as well as humans themselves, onto a vast planet-wide web where everything and everyone become nodes on the network – connected by microchips which are nano-size and can be inhaled (like smart dust). Many people are encouraging the advancement of 5G by their desire at all costs for convenience and speed (give me my multiple gigabit downloads now!). People are foolishly valuing this over privacy, safety and health. 5G is not merely an upgrade of wireless infrastructure; it is a giant leap towards the erection and installation of a total technological control grid. The agenda is to cover the entire Earth – including rural areas – with the 5G electromagnetic blanket, so that its effects can literally not be escaped by anyone living on this planet.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s Scary Speech

If I haven’t got your attention yet, please take a look at this video, where FCC (Federal Communications Commission) head Tom Wheeler lays out how 5G is going to happen – consequences be damned. At the 2:42 mark, the video goes through an edited version of his June 2016 speech at the National Press Club in Washington DC. From my perspective, Wheeler appears more than just intense or defiant; he borders on the psychopathic. This guy is another former corporate lobbyist using the good old “revolving door” at the top of the business-political world. He now occupies a key governmental office to promote the agenda of his former industry (telecommunications). He is advocating the rollout of a game-changing technology (with toxic and cancerous side effects for some) that’s going to affect all life on Earth, but he doesn’t want to wait for safety standards. Later on the video, Wheeler ignores and dodges questions about the wireless radiation-cancer connection.

Here’s a summary of his points:

– 5G will penetrate material objects better: thanks to “brilliant engineers”, 5G radiation will be even harder to shield yourself against;

– 5G will be infrastructure-intensive: the plan is to erect even more radiating towers in every corner of the planet, adding a new meaning to the concept of electromagnetic soup;

– 5G will make tens of billions of dollars for its owners through “unanticipated and unintended” consequences (after this point, Wheeler slams his fist on the podium and says, “That’s damn important”);

– 5G is going to go ahead without the FCC waiting for governmental standards (Wheeler proudly proclaims that “unlike other countries”, the US cares about being “first out of the gate” (i.e. economically). He suggests we “turn innovators loose” rather than wait for committees to decide things. He defiantly declares that, “We won’t wait for the standards”);

– 5G will require the sharing of frequencies with the military;

5G is the technological basis for the IoT (Wheeler states that “hundreds of millions of microchips” will be in everything [and everyone if they get their way]);

– All parts of the Earth will be covered, so there will be urban and rural radiation saturation.

The Ultimate Technological Control Grid

Like all things in the New World Order, 5G can be understood on many levels. Yes, it’s about companies rushing forward to make money using unsafe technology and unproven products (a very familiar theme throughout human history – see tobacco, Big Pharma drugs, vaccines, GMOs, etc.). However, that’s only the surface level. That is nothing new. The deeper level is really about the construction of a total technological control grid whose ultimate purpose is to know what you’re thinking and feeling, and then be able to change what you’re thinking and feeling so as to control your actions. In other words, complete technological slavery. Like many aspects the worldwide conspiracy, most people who push forward their particular aspect of the overall agenda have no idea of the deeper ramifications or where the whole thing is headed.

Wireless radiation in the MHz, GHz and THz is literally millions, billions and trillions times (respectively) the normal frequency of the Earth – the Schumann Resonance of 7.83 Hz. (image credit: David Dees)

Human Skin and Sweat Ducts Are Antennae and Can be Influenced (Controlled) by 5G Technology

If you think that’s its farfetched to connect 5G and the IoT with a technological control grid, consider the latest evidence. Do you know that our skin (the largest organ in our body) directly responds to 5G? Are you aware that our sweat ducts act as antennae? Do you know that our sweat ducts can receive signals? We are energetic beings, first and foremost. We vibrate and exude frequencies. To affect people energetically is to affect them physically.

Some people in the mainstream may have been shocked to discover the extent of CIA spying on their lives, but that is truly the tip of the iceberg. If the technology already exists to affect, influence and (as we will learn) control the human frequency field and energetic structure, how close are we already to technological slavery? Consider these findings by Israeli scientist Dr. Ben-Ishai in this video:

“[The 5G frequencies] will zap [us] with wavelengths that will interact with the geometrical structure of our skin … is there a health implication?

[In 2008] We found that sweat ducts work like helical antennas … the sweat duct was an integral part of the mechanism for the absorption of energy, electromagnetic, between 75-100 GHz, and that if you changed the character of the sweat duct, i.e. made it work, you could actually change that absorption at some point, and if you could do that you could trace how a person is under stress.

Gal Shafirstein also came to the same conclusion … he actually looked at SAR rates as well. He did this because the American army had commissioned him to explain why their 94Ghz proud dispersal gun made people run away when the beam touched them … if you are unlucky enough to be standing there when it hits you, you feel like your body is on fire … he found the SAR rate was going very high within sweat duct compared to the surrounding tissue … so there’s already evidence that there could be effects on us.

The important thing … is the these structures (papilla) are also on the same basic dimensional level as radio waves from anything from 60 gig to 100 gig (5G).

Microwaves affect water in a different way to more solid matter. Essentially, as Washington’s Blog notes, the Same Frequencies Used for Pain-Inflicting Crowd Control Weapons Form the Foundation of the Network that Will Tie Together More Than 50 Billion Devices As Part of the Internet of Things. Ben-Ishai finishes his talk by saying that, within a matter of 2 years, we shall all be flooded with 5G and it will be affecting our skin and sweat ducts – regardless of the health effects. He highlights that the current standards do not consider the SkinRad Effect (skin radiation effect) when assessing possible health risk issues, which is just like how the wireless industry clings to their outmoded idea of SAR (a thermal measure of wireless radiation) and ignores the damaging, non-thermal effects of wireless radiation.

The Environmental Health Trust had a lot to say about 5G:

““The use of sub-terahertz (Millimeter wave) communications technology (cell phones, Wi-Fi, network transmission antennas) could cause humans to feel physical pain via nociceptors,” stated Dr. Yael Stein, MD, who wrote a letter to the Federal Communications Commission about 5G Spectrum Frontiers.”

Think about it – our natural rhythm is something close to the Schumann Resonance of the Earth, which is 7.83 Hz. We are talking about frequency bands not hundreds, not thousands, not millions, but actually billions times this frequency! 28 GHz is 28,000,000,000 (28 billion) cycles per second! Now we have electronic devices that operate in the THz band (TeraHertz, which is trillions of Hertz). To say this is completely unnatural is the understatement of the millennium. It is completely out of balance, disharmonious and insane. It is wreaking havoc on our energy fields.

5G and IoT: Total Technological Control Grid Being Rolled Out Fast | 5g-IoT-controllable-nodes-network-479x319 | Science & Technology Sleuth Journal

The IoT is the manifestation of the agenda to turn limitless and free humans into controllable nodes on the synthetic network.

The IoT (Interent of Things)

So what is this IoT? Bruce Schneier describes it like this:

“Broadly speaking, the Internet of Things has three parts. There are the sensors that collect data about us and our environment: smart thermostats, street and highway sensors, and those ubiquitous smartphones with their motion sensors and GPS location receivers. Then there are the “smarts” that figure out what the data means and what to do about it. This includes all the computer processors on these devices and — increasingly — in the cloud, as well as the memory that stores all of this information. And finally, there are the actuators that affect our environment. The point of a smart thermostat isn’t to record the temperature; it’s to control the furnace and the air conditioner. Driverless cars collect data about the road and the environment to steer themselves safely to their destinations.

You can think of the sensors as the eyes and ears of the internet. You can think of the actuators as the hands and feet of the internet. And you can think of the stuff in the middle as the brain. We are building an internet that senses, thinks, and acts.

This is the classic definition of a robot. We’re building a world-size robot, and we don’t even realize it.

This world-size robot is actually more than the Internet of Things. It’s a combination of … mobile computing, cloud computing, always-on computing, huge databases of personal information, the Internet of Things … autonomy, and artificial intelligence … It’ll get more powerful and more capable through all the interconnections we’re building.

It’ll also get much more dangerous.”

Schneider is a computer expert so his idea of dangerous seems to be limited to software flaws and hacking vulnerabilities. However, the conspiracy goes much deeper than that. The IoT is slated to become the technological control grid in which every single material thing, living and non-living, is attached, and in so doing loses its independence and free will. The IoT is a fake, synthetic version of the already existent network of Nature that surrounds us. However, the dark force behind this agenda cannot control that grid, so is seeking to replace it with one that is detrimental to human health and in which all the nodes on the network can be controlled.

Time to Wake Up – and Fast

This dark agenda – this Synthetic Agenda, this Transhumanist Agenda – to erect a total technological control grid is unfurling way too fast for comfort. We all have to wake up – and fast. With every year that passes, our technological evolution keeps outpacing our spiritual evolution. This can only lead to one thing: technology will fall into the hands of people with little or no scruples who will be happy to use it to further their own ends and enslave others. Luckily, some people are waking up to, even people in positions of power such as a group of mayors in Ohio who have filed a lawsuit to stop 5G towers being erected in their counties, cities and municipalities.

This really is a race against time. If this technological control grid is rolled out in sufficient breadth and depth of reach, and intensity, it will seriously impact our ability to resist it, because it contains the capability to suppress that very resistance. We are living the plot of a science fiction film – but it’s real life and the consequences are deadly. Will humanity be able to recognize the truth quickly enough? Will we be able to stop the insanity and the construction of networks that enslave us?

New Wikileaks Vault 7 Release Proves The CIA Bugs “Factory Fresh” iPhones and Other Devices

New Wikileaks Vault 7 Release Proves The CIA Bugs “Factory Fresh” iPhones and Other Devices | cia-spying-iphone-wikileaks-vault-7 | CIA Science & Technology Sleuth Journal Special Interests Surveillance Whistle Blowers

Wikileaks has released another portion of Vault 7 called “Dark Matter.” In this telling release comes the story of the CIA’s involvement in bugging a number of Apple products, including iPhones and the Macbook Air.

In short, the leak exposes how the CIA infects Apple Mac computer firmware to gain ‘persistence’ on Apple devices, including laptops and phones. These projects have been developed by the CIA’s Embedded Development Branch (EDB).

WikiLeaks explains that this ‘bug’ allows an attacker/hacker to boot its attack software from a USB stick onto a device, even when a firmware password has been enabled. According to WiKiLeaks, the infector is stored in the Apple Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter.

Essentially, the leak suggests the CIA is bugging iPhones from their factory fresh state and that, regardless of whether or not the user deletes or re-installs an operating system, their phone is bugged. Data can be collected, devices can be hacked, and so forth.

The full live stream press briefing about this release can be viewed here: LIVE: WikiLeaks press briefing in some minutes: CIA #Vault7 “darkmatter” ask questions with #AskWL https://t.co/ldG78exSsu
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) March 23, 2017

Below is WikiLeaks’ press release on the matter.

Today, March 23rd 2017, WikiLeaks releases Vault 7 “Dark Matter”, which contains documentation for several CIA projects that infect Apple Mac Computer firmware (meaning the infection persists even if the operating system is re-installed) developed by the CIA’s Embedded Development Branch (EDB). These documents explain the techniques used by CIA to gain ‘persistence’ on Apple Mac devices, including Macs and iPhones and demonstrate their use of EFI/UEFI and firmware malware.

Among others, these documents reveal the “Sonic Screwdriver” project which, as explained by the CIA, is a “mechanism for executing code on peripheral devices while a Mac laptop or desktop is booting” allowing an attacker to boot its attack software for example from a USB stick “even when a firmware password is enabled”. The CIA’s “Sonic Screwdriver” infector is stored on the modified firmware of an Apple Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter.

“DarkSeaSkies” is “an implant that persists in the EFI firmware of an Apple MacBook Air computer” and consists of “DarkMatter”, “SeaPea” and “NightSkies”, respectively EFI, kernel-space and user-space implants.

Documents on the “Triton” MacOSX malware, its infector “Dark Mallet” and its EFI-persistent version “DerStake” are also included in this release. While the DerStake1.4 manual released today dates to 2013, other Vault 7 documents show that as of 2016 the CIA continues to rely on and update these systems and is working on the production of DerStarke2.0.

Also included in this release is the manual for the CIA’s “NightSkies 1.2” a “beacon/loader/implant tool” for the Apple iPhone. Noteworthy is that NightSkies had reached 1.2 by 2008, and is expressly designed to be physically installed onto factory fresh iPhones. i.e the CIA has been infecting the iPhone supply chain of its targets since at least 2008.

While CIA assets are sometimes used to physically infect systems in the custody of a target it is likely that many CIA physical access attacks have infected the targeted organization’s supply chain including by interdicting mail orders and other shipments (opening, infecting, and resending) leaving the United States or otherwise.

Why Does This Matter?

We are learning the truth about what government agencies are doing behind the backs of citizens and without their approval. While it can be argued that these measures are taken for the sake of national security, there is much more at play here, and as Edward Snowden has always stated, the public deserves to know, and we all should decide whether or not this is right.

We are in a time when we are learning a great deal about the true workings of our world and governments, and the more we learn, the more questions we have — and rightly so. There is an ‘inconvenient truth’, if you will, that humanity is faced with and must begin to work through, and that is that we do not determine who is elected to our governments like we might think. Our governments are not who we think they are and do not have our best interests at heart.

We must accept this truth, because that is the only way we can begin to change our world and start creating one where humans can thrive. We have the capability to do so, but we must first take the manipulative forces out of the equation. Awareness of what is really going on is that first step. News stories like this help us begin asking those big questions that lead to understanding what’s really going on and then effecting change.
